Whitbread has created 3,000 new UK jobs in the year up to February 2014. Sales are up by 13% to £2,294.3million and the company is investing in their pub and restaurant estate.
The Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants division saw profits up 11.2% to £348.1 million.
The chief executive report, with results for the financial year to 27 February 2014, stated that: “Restaurants delivered a much better second half performance, which increased sales growth for the full year to 3.9% and like for like sales growth to 1.6%.”
Whitbread plans to rejuvenate its pub restaurant brands Brewers Fayre and Beefeater. The brands will see an investment in food development, menu offer, branding and signage and a more consistent guest experience.
Brewers Fayre restaurants are receiving an average investment of £50,000 per restaurant. Beefeater is undertaking a new format with an average investment of around £200,000 per restaurant. Whitbread said that its goal is to “serve up great memories” for the 47 million guests who visit each year.
The majority of the new jobs are sourced from Costa and Premier Inn.
