The Hospitality Apprenticeship Showcase, which takes place during National Apprenticeship week, is back for its seventh year. The Showcase will be taking place on Wednesday 8 February 2023, in the Terrace Pavilion, House of Commons, Westminster.
The Hospitality Apprenticeship Showcase brings together companies and individuals within the hospitality industry to celebrate the amazing achievements of the industry’s apprentices, but also to illustrate the different roles that are available in hospitality and show that the industry is somewhere you can pursue a rewarding career. By highlighting the diverse range of roles and reiterating the importance of cross-party support, it ensures the hospitality sector has the right foundations to continue to thrive in our towns, cities and villages.
This year’s event will be hosted by Alun Cairns MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group. Mr Cairns commented: “I am delighted to be hosting 2023’s Hospitality Apprenticeship Showcase. This event is certainly a highlight of National Apprenticeship Week, so many apprentices and MPs in one room engaging on hot topics is inspiring to witness.
“It is now more important than ever that we promote hospitality as a rewarding, stable career prospect for both young people, and indeed people of all ages. As we navigate the current economic and social challenges, I am certain that hospitality will prosper as it rebuilds with first-class learning and development programmes, investing in lasting careers.”
Over the last seven years, over one thousand apprentices from the hospitality sector have met with Lords, Ladies and MPs to not only celebrate their achievements and National Apprenticeship Week but to showcase all of their amazing skills.
Jemelle Bish, Career Development Manager at Stonegate Group, has been involved with the Hospitality Apprenticeship Showcase for the last seven years and has not only celebrated some of Stonegate Group’s talented apprentices but also highlighted the Pub Co’s commitment to individuals carrying out an apprenticeship with them or those interested in doing an apprenticeship.
Jemelle said: “The Hospitality Apprenticeship showcase is such an amazing event, which brings the industry together to celebrate both apprentice’s achievements and all the amazing careers hospitality offers. It is great for everyone to come together to show how hospitality roles, from all of a business’s divisions, can be more than just short-term roles.
“At Stonegate, we support everyone from individuals looking to start a career in hospitality to those already in the industry, looking to develop their skills and progress within their career journeys, and apprenticeships are a great way to do this.”
Dave Alebon, Kitchen Manager at The Brasshouse, Birmingham attended one of the very first Hospitality Apprenticeship Showcases, where he completed Levels 3 and 4 of Stonegate’s Back of House Apprenticeship Programme named Evolutions. Dave said: “I remember attending the Hospitality Apprenticeship Showcase a few years ago and it was one of the most exciting and fun events I have ever been to. The event allowed all of us apprentices to show off our skills to companies and individuals from the industry as well as MPs. I have never had as much fun at an event as I did at the Hospitality Apprentice Showcase.”
Just like previous years, companies from across the hospitality industry will be attending the event. This year’s attendees include: Beds and Bars, Fuller, Smith and Turner PLC, Marston’s PLC, Mitchells and Butlers, Stonegate Group and UK Hospitality.
